1.Who we are
Platter Catering Inc. ("Platter Catering", "we", "us") operates the website cateringplatter.com and the Platter Catering mobile app (together, the "Services"). This policy explains how we handle personal information when you browse, create an account, place an order, book an event, or contact us.
By using the Services you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
2.Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the Services:
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number, password (stored only as a one-way hash), and an optional profile photo.
- Delivery details: saved addresses, delivery instructions, and the location you choose when searching for an address.
- Order and booking details: the platters, meals and event menus you choose, guest counts, dates and times, dietary preferences and allergy notes, and messages you attach to a request.
- Group and corporate plans: the join codes you create or use, the members of a plan, and each member's meal choices.
- Payment details: the amount, status and reference of each payment. Card numbers are entered directly into our payment processor's secure form and never reach or rest on our servers.
- Communications: messages sent through the contact form, reviews and ratings you publish, and our replies.
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser or device type, app version, pages or screens viewed, and timestamps, collected through server logs.
- Notification tokens: if you allow notifications, the push subscription your browser or device gives us.
3.How we use your information
- To create and secure your account, including email verification and sign-in.
- To prepare, deliver and support your orders, events and weekly plans.
- To take payments, issue refunds and keep the financial records the law requires.
- To send service messages: order confirmations, status updates, reminders and cut-off notices.
- To answer your questions and resolve problems.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, enforce rate limits, and keep the Services reliable.
- To understand how the Services are used so we can improve them.
- To send announcements or offers, where you have not opted out.
4.Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We share it only with:
- Square, our payment processor, to authorise and settle card payments.
- Resend, our email delivery provider, to send verification codes and service emails.
- Geoapify, to suggest and locate delivery addresses. It receives the address text you type (and your location, only if you choose to use it), never your account details.
- Push notification services operated by your browser or device vendor, to deliver notifications you have enabled.
- Our hosting and infrastructure providers, who store data on our behalf.
- Delivery staff and kitchen teams, who see the details needed to fulfil your order.
- Organisers and members of a group or corporate plan you join, who can see your name and meal choices within that plan.
- Authorities or advisers, when required by law or needed to protect our rights, our customers or the public.
- A successor business, if Platter Catering is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
5.Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect your session. We do not use advertising cookies. See our Cookie Policy for the details.
6.How long we keep it
We keep account information for as long as your account is open. Order, booking and payment records are kept for as long as tax, accounting and food-safety rules require, which is generally up to seven years. Server logs are kept for a short period and then deleted or aggregated. When information is no longer needed we delete it or make it anonymous.
7.How we protect it
We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, multi-factor authentication for staff accounts, and rate limiting to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us straight away if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
8.Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your profile, addresses and preferences at any time in your account. You can turn notifications off in your browser or device settings. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it.
- Correct information that is inaccurate.
- Delete your account and personal information, subject to records we must keep by law.
- Opt out of marketing messages.
- Not be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.
California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. To make a request, email us from the address on your account. We will verify your identity and reply within the time the law allows.
9.Children
The Services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Services change. We will post the new version here with a new "last updated" date, and we will notify you of significant changes by email or in the app.
11.Contact us
Questions or requests about your privacy can be sent to contact@cateringplatter.com or made by phone on 415-530-6241.
